The Black Sitting
NYC Feb. 1956

Photographed before leaving for California to make "Bus Stop", this series remains the ultimate Monroe-Greene achievement. For all its sexy fishnet stockings and provocative attitudes, it retains the saucy innocence of a little girl playing dress-up. The use of a bustier and fishnet stockings first used here, sparked the design of the costume worn by the character "Cherie" in Bus Stop, the film they produced as well. This image appeared on the new label for the 1996 vintage of Marilyn Merlot wine.

The Ballerina series
NYC Sept. 1954

This newly restored image was created in 1954 at Milton's New York Studio. Marilyn arrived for the opening of the of "Seven Year Itch". This sitting has become known as the "Ballerina" series. It's one of Milton & Marilyn's most recognized collaborations. The clothing designer, Ann Klein, sent various outfits to the studio for Marilyn to wear, however not knowing Marilyn's ever fluctuating proportions, all the outfits were too small. In fact, all of the poses in this sitting amusingly dealt with the problem of having to hold up the front of the toule and satin dress.

The Black Sitting
NYC - 1956

Many Monroe fans revere The Black Sitting as the finest pictures of Marilyn available. Although sexy and provocative, the images retain the innocence of youth. Here Milton captures Marilyn's grace and undeniably beautiful and exalted form.
