P-93 / Marilyn Monroe / LA / May 1954

Another image from one of our favorite sittings, this photograph was taken on the French village set used to film What Price Glory. The set and costume combined to inspire Monroe’s dramatic side, yielding this moment where we see Marilyn as a wistful peasant. Milton passionately believed in Marilyn’s potential as a dramatic actress and had optioned the film rights for the novel, The Brothers Karamazov, to use as a future Marilyn Monroe Productions film project. This image from the “Peasant” sitting was just restored and is presented here for first-time-ever public viewing.
