Photography

"Light-writing" is the literal meeting of photography. As light plays on the landscape, award winning photographer Brett Matthews leads participants in a field study of natural light, gaining insight into how light interacts with matter. Understanding the physical properties of light - reflection, refraction and scattering - as it relates to the photographic process, fosters an awareness of lights expressive qualities. In addition, conceptual appreciationwill be given to the sentiments evoked while exploring the wonder, seeking the edge, and making the photograph.

Instructor: Brett Matthews - a landscape photographer who exhibits his photographs throughout the United States. His extraordinarily beautiful and powerful images have an abstract quality which works with reflections, texture, and color - capturing the play of light. He currently resides in Florence, Oregon.
