Marilyn Monroe, White Fur - WF-2

This portrait was created while Marilyn was living with the Greene family in New York. It was taken at the end of a year
spent in self-imposed exile from her public and exemplifies Marilyn's expression of new-found freedom and self
validation. Photographed in Milton's studio with Marilyn wrapped in white fur, Milton and Marilyn made time for the historic
sitting on an evening in March 1955. Afterward, the two shareholders left for a private cocktail party in New York City where they
announced and celebrated the formation of Marilyn Monroe Productions (MMP). At the party, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn
posed together for a brief, rare moment, and Milton captured the two divas together on film.

Taken on the French village set used to film What Price Glory, the combination of costume and set gives Marilyn a

in The Song of Bernadette. This image has only been published once before, in Milton's Marilyn,

The Black Sitting. Photographed in Milton's New York studio before leaving for California to make "Bus Stop,"

 Marilyn Monroe Ballerina - B-4
Created in 1954 at Milton's studio in New York City, this image is from one of Milton and Marilyn's most recognized
collaborations - the 'Ballerina' sitting. Clothing designer Ann Klein sent various outfits to Milton's studio for Marilyn to
wear. The outfits, however, were two sizes too small and all of the poses in this sitting amusingly had to deal with
the problem of holding up the front of the ill-fitting toile and satin dress. The most recognized image from this sitting
was chosen as one of Time-Life's three most popular images of the 20th Century. This image was first published

These pictures were first found in 1994 while producing Milton's Marilyn and some were included in the book,
but this one, (one of our favorites), has never been exhibited or published until now. What's humorous about this
picture is that, in order for Milton to take it, he had to ride. Being a kid from the streets of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn,
riding horses was not as natural as playing stick ball. Just imagine a New York kid with striped shirt, slacks,
and Italian loafers taking these photographs while balancing a camera, controlling the reins, and hanging on for dear life.
